Living Through the Great Unraveling

The Discomfort of Not Knowing

Things feel agitated and angry inside me right now—and I know I’m not the only one. Everywhere I look, people are restless, stirred up, uneasy in their own skins. It’s as if the ground beneath us is shifting so dramatically that we don’t know what’s real anymore. Nothing is what it seems, and that makes me squirm. Every day I find myself coming back to this: What is true for me? What is mine to carry, and what is not?

More Than Politics, More Than Climate Change

There’s no denying it—we are living in a time of massive, history-making change. The old ways are crumbling, and none of us really knows what will be left when the dust settles. It’s unnerving. And yet, like process art, this “not knowing” is part of the work. It’s messy. It’s raw. It refuses to be controlled. And maybe that’s the point.

What I can no longer tolerate is pretending this is just another round of chaotic politics, climate crisis, or social division. No. Something much larger is unfolding. Something ancient and future, destructive and creative all at once. Despite my discomfort, I am grateful to be alive in this moment, to witness and participate in this paradigm shift.

Outer Upheaval, Inner Metamorphosis

Of course, this collective upheaval mirrors my own inner metamorphosis. Life has demanded I change—how I live, how I tend my body, how I soothe my inflamed state. I’ve had to step away from the noise, the constant barrage of news and distraction. Our nervous systems were never designed for this relentless overstimulation, and it’s taking a toll.

The more we unplug, the more we remember how to breathe. The more we return to ourselves, the more resilient we become.

Turning Down the Noise

For me, that’s meant turning inward. Choosing stillness over scrolling. Choosing rest over relentless productivity. Choosing to tend my inner fire instead of feeding the flames of outrage. This isn’t denial—it’s survival. It’s an act of love for the nervous system, the body, the spirit.

Living From Deeper Awareness

Here’s what I keep coming back to: These chaotic times are asking us to live from a deeper awareness. To strip down to something raw and real. To cultivate authenticity, vulnerability, and openheartedness—not as a performance, but as a way of being.

This is where our true power lives: in presence. In courage. In the willingness to show up even when we’re angry, even when we’re agitated, even when we don’t have the answers.

Loving the Messy Parts

And yes, that takes guts. Many of us were taught that our truth—especially when laced with discomfort or rage—was not welcome. That to belong, we had to soften ourselves, smile politely, and swallow the hard emotions. But the times are too urgent for that.

If we are to navigate this unraveling, we’ll need a fierce devotion to self-care, strong boundaries, and unconditional love for all parts of ourselves, even the messy ones. Especially the messy ones.

Because from that radical self-honoring, truth emerges. And when truth emerges, transformation follows.
